After completing my Master’s at the University of St. Andrews and gaining valuable experience in the real estate sector in Stuttgart, I was ready to embrace a new challenge in the world of finance. I was looking for an opportunity to expand my skills and take on greater responsibility—exactly what I found at Marktlink.
I came across Marktlink through an online application, and my first conversation was with Henning, the Managing Partner of the Hamburg office. From the moment we met, I knew I wanted to work with him. Being given the opportunity to help establish the Hamburg office alongside a managing partner was a unique and exciting prospect.
For the first eight months, the Hamburg team was just Henning and me. During this time, I was responsible for the day-to-day business and took on all managerial tasks. What I enjoyed most was the immediate responsibility and the freedom to make decisions independently. It allowed me to make a real impact within the company and learn at a fast pace.
The company culture at Marktlink is something I truly appreciate. Even though the financial sector can be challenging and stressful, the atmosphere here feels like a family. Everyone is willing to support and help each other, and you’re given the freedom to bring your own ideas and methods to the table, which is something I find invaluable.
It’s incredibly exciting to be part of a company that is growing so rapidly, both in Germany and across Europe. Every new office strengthens Marktlink’s network and increases its visibility in the market. However, as Marktlink continues to expand and becomes a larger international player, maintaining the personal connection and navigating the challenges that come with rapid growth has also been a learning experience.
One of the main challenges for me was jumping straight into client meetings and challenging sales calls. It was daunting at first, but with practice, you notice progress day by day, and that’s incredibly rewarding. The opportunity to improve your skills daily and tackle new challenges is one of the best aspects of the role.
My goal is to progress quickly to a managerial position where I can lead my own projects. Additionally, I want to deepen my knowledge of the M&A sector and significantly grow my network. Marktlink offers so many opportunities for both personal and professional growth, and I’m excited about what the future holds.
