From real estate to M&A

Before joining Marktlink, I spent eighteen months in the real estate sector, focusing on transaction and advisory services. While I enjoyed working on transactions, I missed the strategic and financial aspects of the companies I worked with during my studies. I came across a LinkedIn post from Marktlink saying that they had a job opening. I got the impression that Marktlink and the job could bring me a lot of hands-on responsibility as well as getting a lot of exposure to deals and client management teams, which aligned perfectly with my interests. Additionally, the opportunity to help shape the growing Copenhagen office was a compelling factor in my decision to join Marktlink.

A clear growth path offers opportunities

The great thing about Marktlink is that it offers its consultants a clear growth path: if you have the ambition to become a manager, that opportunity is available. I certainly have that ambition, with the goal of becoming a manager within the Copenhagen team in the future. For now, I am focused on continuously learning and developing myself as a consultant by working on as many deals as possible, which has already helped me improve my professional communication skills with clients and other external stakeholders. Working in an international organisation like Marktlink has taught me that there is a lot to gain from others, even across borders, as cases and industries overlap internationally.

The hurdles of a relatively new international office

The Copenhagen office is still pretty small. The offices in the Netherlands are growing at a fast pace and for us, just like the other international offices, it’s a challenge to adapt the successful Dutch model to fit the unique culture and professional environment of each country. Something that we work on every day! We are supported by a strong foundation established in the Netherlands, which helps us manage these transitions effectively.

I would absolutely recommend working at Marktlink. From early on, you will engage with clients, ensuring a steep learning curve. Our flat organisational structure allows you to have significant control over your tasks and the end results of your work. Additionally, Marktlink's culture fosters a large international network of consultants and M&A professionals across our offices. From the beginning, you'll participate in large events and social gatherings, helping you become familiar with the history and culture of Marktlink.
